A native to Singapore, this evergreen, fast-growing tree can reach 20 metres in height. The jackfruit tree is best known for its fruit, which has a warty skin that turns from light green to golden yellow when ripe, with a sweet and tasty flesh that emits a strong scent. Jackfruits are known to have the largest and heaviest fruits in the plant kingdom, weighing up to 50kg. Apart from being consumed for its fruit, the bark of the jackfruit tree is also used to make cloth.
