Fish Tail Palm

The fishtail palm is one of the most common native palms of Singapore, and is also found in India, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. It is a popular choice for parks and streets in Singapore because of its fanciful fishtail-like leaflets. However, the whole plant, including its fruits, can cause severe skin irritation due to the minute needle-like crystals found on its surface.
