Tampoi
(baccaurea macrocarpa)
c. early 19th century
The tampoi tree is native not just to Singapore, but also Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra. It is noticeable for its candelabra-like shape, and can grow up to 27 metres in height. Its fruits are edible, with white to yellow flesh, encased in fleshy capsules that turn from orang to brown to full red when ripe.
