Akar Gerip Putih
Griffith’s Leuconotis
(Akar Gerip Putih; leuconotis griffithii)
c. 19th century
Native to Singapore, this climber is notable for its long, leathery leaves and tiny yellow flowers. But the akar gerip putih hides a lethal truth: its white sap, while similar to rubber, is poisonous. Due to the loss in habitat, this species has now become rare in Singapore.
