These are intact pieces of Chinese porcelain export ware salvaged from the Kallang river basin by dredge master Geoffery Ovens circa 1970 during the dredging works for the construction of Benjamin Sheares Bridge. They are traced back to the Ming dynasty period, circa 16th to 17th century, at a time when Singapura acted as the shahbandariah for the Melaka sultanate that had relocated to Johor.
