These East Javanese-style gold jewellery were found at Bukit Larangan (Fort Canning) in 1928 by labourers excavating the site for a reservoir, and dated to the 14th century. These ornaments are a reminder that during the period, Singapura was under the political and cultural ambit of the Majapahit kingdom based in East Java as one of its vassal, and thus it was unsurprising that its inhabitants, particularly its elites, shared in Majapahit cultural accoutrements.
