Four Horse Road

Arts culture and heritage intergenerational Community

This interactive theatrical performance provides a nostalgic look at Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage and charts the development of Waterloo Street, one of Singapore’s oldest roads. The fictional stories presented take inspiration from real historical events, imagining the life of those who have lived, studied and worked on the street over the last 200 years.

“With so many stories, we decided to dig deeper, and tell the stories of the inhabitants both historical and fictitious that used to roam this street”, shared Kuo Jian Hong, Director of Four Horse Road. While the historical landmarks along Waterloo Street are well-known, the stories of its people are less so. By showcasing a diverse spectrum of human stories and experiences spanning a myriad of races, religions and cultures, this production attempts to uncover these forgotten tales and give a voice to the voiceless.
Four Horse Road” aims to take a closer look at Singapore through the scope of Waterloo Street. Through this experience, creators hope to further encourage audience members to investigate their own heritage and community, discovering the rich cultural tapestry of Singapore.

Immerse yourself in this one-of-a-kind performance and you might just find yourself wanting to learn more about what the nation’s past has to offer.
