Do You M.I.N.D.?

Do You M.I.N.D.? is a new youth mental wellness initiative by TOUCH Community Services.

In Singapore, there is limited mental health public education and outreach to youths aged 13 to 18 years old. However, research findings have shown that mental health issues, suicidal thoughts and suicide rates are on the rise amongst youths today. It is crucial to reach out to them early using innovative and interactive methods such as virtual reality and station activities. This way, youths will be strengthened with information and resources to better manage stressors in life; speak up about their mental wellness; adopt positive help-seeking behaviour; and watch out for their peers and family members who may be in need or at-risk.

Through virtual reality immersive experience and adventure-based experiential learning (station activities) conducted in secondary schools, youths will learn and be encouraged to pay attention to their mental wellness and that of their loved ones, including taking practical steps to:
  • M - Moderate eating habits and strive towards a balanced, healthy lifestyle;
  • I - Include persons with mental health issues in their social circles and build healthy relationships;
  • N - Notice preliminary signs and symptoms of mental health issues in their peers and loved ones;
  • D - Defend themselves and their friends against self-harm, instead of glorifying it.
As part of the project, intervention work such as counselling and therapy may be provided by TOUCH’s counsellors to youths, but only if necessary.
