Community Living Room at Telok Blangah Crescent
is a project that brings together residents and stakeholders from Block 7 Telok Blangah Crescent, in the planning and design of a community space at the void deck. A significant proportion of Telok Blangah Crescent residents includes seniors that are frail and families living in rental flats.

As part of the project, the team at Participate in Design (P!D) has been engaging the residents of Telok Blangah Crescent through a series of site observations, chitchat interviews conducted with 20 to 25 residents to understand the needs and opportunities of the community. Following this, P!D will complete the design of the void deck space with the residents during a co-creation workshop. Based on their collective insights, aspirations and ideas, the void deck space was eventually chosen as the site of intervention for the team to design for participation and activate in collaboration with the community.

By applying a participatory design process with a community-driven approach, P!D hopes to renew a sense of belief that everyone has something positive to contribute towards the design and planning of an inclusive community space that residents can proudly call their own.
